Business industries that the recession has no effect on.

The recession advantage.

The recession doesn't affect every business. There are some companies that even benefit from it. Businesses directly related to the economy such as oil, housing, finance and certain engineering firms feel it the most. Some retail stores are suffering as well since many have cut down on their usual spending habits.

Industries that the recession have little to no effect.

  1. Entertainment
  2. Gambling/Casino
  3. Certain Online Businesses/Advertising
  4. Job Locating Agencies
  5. Fast Food

Looking at the five business industries above; none of them are directly connected to the economy. Regardless of people losing their jobs, people need to be entertained whether it be sports, music, television, books or the internet.

So if you want to launch a business start one of the above and you'll never have to worry about a recession ruining your company. Notice how I wrote "certain" online businesses? There are some that do suffer, such as online retail stores; however, the majority of online businesses do well during the times of economic hardship. With so many layoffs and unemployed individuals, many are sitting at home on the computer searching for ways to get by. Unfortunately 80% of these people looking for a quick remedy will end up falling for one or more of those "make a living online" programs and just waste their money.

While running an online business is an excellent idea, it takes more than a days worth of reading to get the hang of it. Think of it as starting any type of business from scratch. Its not much easier, the only plus side is that start up costs are relatively reasonable compared to starting any of type of other business. You don't have to worry about leasing a building, registering your company, finding staff and all that expensive stuff.

Things to remember:

  1. Everybody needs to be entertained, no matter what.
  2. There will always be people who are addicted to gambling.
  3. Online businesses cost less to start as opposed to a traditional business.
  4. When there is a recession, people will be looking for backup jobs.
  5. People will always resort to fast (cheap) food while restaurants suffer.
